What Makes Us Unique?

When we started this journey more than ten years ago, there were only a handful of online learning centers for homeschool families. We were pioneers! That experience has allowed us to sharpen our commitment to the principles that are most important.

Whole Books

Students learn from whole, living books--written by authors who are passionate about their subjects--that captivate the student's attention and inspire their minds. Older teens read original source material and living books, where possible, that challenge them to think deeply and enjoy the journey along the way.

Socratic Discussions

Our classes are rarely lecture-based. Instead, students read great books, then gather to discuss what they have learned. Because we believe in the power of the Socratic method to give hungry minds the opportunity for real, substantive discussions, we limit our discussion classes to an average of ten students. Your child will not will not be a number at Lucerna!

Biblical Worldview

We view all our subjects through the lens of the Bible and introduce our students to the ideas of the Great Conversation, so students have the opportunity to discuss these big ideas alongside the principles of Scripture and thoughtfully evaluate their own hearts and the world in which they live.
