Grammar-Level Science Modules

These a la carte classes are offered throughout the year. Ranging from 2 week to 12 weeks in length, our mod courses allow you to customize your school year to fit your schedule and interests. Using Apologia Science as our base, we customize our mods with concepts and projects well-suited to online learning. Science students come to class each week to learn exciting new concepts, then complete labs experiments, projects, and reports at home.

Fun With Astronomy
This God-honoring eight-week course will introduce upper-grammar level students to the out of this world study of astronomy.  Students in this course will take an incredible learning journey through the Milky Way and beyond! Subject matter to investigated includes: all planets of our solar system, the sun, the moon, space rocks, stars, galaxies, and space travel.  Each week there will be a hands-on learning experience for the students to complete at home using common household items and craft store supplies.  A supply list will become available prior to the first class meeting.​

​Age: Minimum age 10. Recommended for 5th-6th graders.
​​Required Resources: basic supplies for at-home experiments and projects.

Fun With Zoology
This six-week hands-on science module offers upper grammar students an introduction to the fascinating science of zoology. Students will learn the basics of zoology and will be introduced to flying and swimming creatures, as well as land animals. Class time will be spent learning and discussing new concepts, playing review games, and watching videos to enrich learning.  There will also be an opportunity for students to research an animal of their choice and present their findings during one of our class periods. There will be short homework assignments and hands-on activities each week.  A supply list for this class will be available prior to the first class meeting. ​

​Age: Minimum age 10. Recommended for 5th-6th graders.
​​Required Resources: basic supplies for at-home experiments and projects.

Fun With Chemistry
This God-honoring six-week course will -introduce upper-grammar students to the amazing science of chemistry.  Students in this course will be inspired to learn more about chemistry in future years, while gaining confidence in their ability to understand complex scientific topics.  Subject matter to be investigated includes: atoms and molecules, properties of matter, compound chemistry, mixtures, the periodic table, chemical bonding, crystals, plastics, acids/bases, and mixtures.  This engaging course will have weekly hands-on learning experiences that can be completed safely at home using common household items.  A supply list will become available prior to the first class meeting.

​Age: Minimum age 10. Recommended for 5th-6th graders.
​​Required Resources: basic supplies for at-home experiments and projects.

This God honoring six-week course will introduce upper-grammar level students to the fascinating science of physics.  Students in this course will be inspired to learn more about physics in future years, while gaining confidence in their ability to understand complex scientific topics. Subject matter to be investigated includes: Newton's laws, gravity, forms of energy, sound, light, thermodynamics, electricity, magnetism, and simple machines. This engaging course will have weekly hands-on learning experiences that can be completed safely at home using common household items.  A supply list will become available prior to the first class meeting. ​

​Age: Minimum age 10. Recommended for 5th-6th graders.
​​Required Resources: basic supplies for at-home experiments and projects.
